G-PAC ILLINOIS & GIFFORDS PAC ENDORSE ADAM BRAUN FOR ILLINOIS HOUS
Braun’s Proven Record of Gun Safety Work Makes Him the Best Choice for House District 13
CHICAGO – The Gun Violence Prevention PAC of Illinois (G-PAC), the state’s leading gun violence advocacy organization, and GIFFORDS PAC, the national gun safety organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, announced today their joint endorsement of Adam Braun for Illinois House District 13. The endorsement is the first of many endorsements by G-PAC and GIFFORDS PAC ahead of the March primary election.
As Deputy Attorney General to Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul, Braun led the effort to build Crime Gun Connect, the most extensive crime gun tracing platform in the country, that has helped stop the flow of illegal guns into Illinois communities. Braun also worked to strengthen firearm restraining orders in Illinois to prevent access to guns by people who are a danger to themselves or others and helped pass the Firearm Industry Responsibility Act to provide a pathway to justice for gun violence survivors to hold gun manufacturers accountable.
In addition, as Deputy Attorney General, Braun worked to enact the Protect Illinois Communities Act that banned assault weapons in the state as well as high-capacity magazines that turn firearms into weapons of war. He also worked to ban untraceable ghost guns in Illinois that are often used to commit crime and violence.
“Even before becoming a candidate for elected office, Adam Braun proved he has a relentless dedication to enacting real change in gun violence prevention, and his work has helped prevent the flow of illegal weapons into our communities and save lives,” said Kathleen Sances, G-PAC President & CEO. “We are proud to endorse Adam Braun for House District 13 because of his exceptional record on gun safety.”
“Illinoisans know that strong gun laws save lives, but the Trump administration continues to roll back critically important gun safety measures and lifesaving violence prevention funding. While we’ve made great progress in recent years, it’s clear we need to continue sending strong leaders like Adam Braun to Springfield to fight back against national oversteps and bolster public safety at home,” said former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. “Adam is a proven champion who will fight to uphold Illinois’ role as a leader on gun violence prevention and build a safer future for Chicago families. GIFFORDS PAC is proud to join with our partners at G-PAC to endorse him in this must-win primary.”
“I am proud to be endorsed by G-PAC and GIFFORDS PAC. I have worked with both of these organizations for many years to fight gun violence, take illegally trafficked firearms off our streets, and hold the firearm industry accountable. I look forward to continuing this work as a State Representative,” Braun said.
Since 2015, G-PAC and GIFFORDS PAC have joined together to endorse legislative candidates in Illinois as part of their mission to elect more champions to office to enact common sense gun safety measures and save lives. As part of today’s endorsement, G-PAC will support direct mail and digital advertising for Braun’s campaign, which is among G-PAC’s top priority races for the March primary election. G-PAC and GIFFORDS PAC will continue to announce additional primary election endorsements in the coming weeks.
