I don’t have better news for you this week. Nine people were shot and killed and 58 people were shot and wounded since my last email to you.
Today we honor the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He was a victim of gun violence on April 4, 1968. Forty eight years later, gun safety restrictions dominate the national conversation. The time is now. We can find the courage to mobilize, vote and elect the leadership we deserve in Illinois. In 2016 we can elect leaders who will put the safety of our children and families first. It’s simple.
We are raising resources to support and elect candidates who have the courage to stand up to the gun lobby in Springfield. Join us.
Last January 149 people were shot. We have surpassed that total in 14 days. We can do a better job at keeping guns out of the hands of criminals, gang members and the dangerously mentally ill.
Thank you. This is going to take time and I am grateful for your continued support. Remember, it takes muscle to fight muscle.
