It Was Only a Matter of Time Before the Next Mass Shooting

On Friday at 8:20pm, 7 people were gunned down in a mass shooting in Chicago. Did you even hear about it on the local news? Before the weekend ended, there would be 10 people dead and 42 shot. It’s been a devastating, deadly year for so many families.

If we continue to stand by and do nothing, our state’s epidemic of gun violence is going to get worse. The gun lobby is not only blocking commonsense gun violence prevention laws, they are working to repeal existing laws that help make our communities safe.

We cannot allow mass shootings and daily gun violence to be the new normal.

The battle for safer communities is at the state level. States with the strongest safety measures reduce gun violence by 40%. These safety measures close loopholes that allow felons, terrorists and the dangerously mentally ill to buy guns.

G-PAC is working overtime to elect a gunsense majority in Illinois who will close these loopholes and stem the daily toll of gun violence plaguing our city and state. Merry Marwig and Cynthia Borbas are two candidates who put the safety of our children, families and communities first. They are committed to cutting off the source of guns to felons and gang members in our state. Their opponents side with the gun lobby – they put the profits of the gun manufacturers first.

The gun lobby is doubling down on their efforts to keep a grip on their lawmakers in Springfield. The lives of our children and grandchildren should be prioritized over the powerful special interests of the gun lobby.

Please support our campaigns to elect Merry and Cynthia. These two votes can help us reach the 60 votes we need in the Illinois House to pass lifesaving laws. Your donation will be used to deliver this powerful message to voters through November 8th. Please dig down and give what you can.
