Edgar Gonzalez, Jr. was born and raised in Chicago’s Little Village community on the Southwest Side and attended Chicago Public Schools, including John Spry Community School and Maria Aucedo Scholastic Academy, as well as Whitney Young Magnet High School.
After graduating from Harvard University, Edgar returned home to Little Village and became a member of Cong. Jesus “Chuy” Garcia’s in-district office. His work focused on supporting our neighbors with casework regarding immigration, social security, and veterans affairs.
The son of immigrants from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Edgar grew up valuing hard work and duty to family, and continues to have a strong pride in his Mexican heritage. His father is an operating engineer and a member of IUOE Local 399 and his mother is a former member of SEIU Local 73. Growing up with two proud union parents exposed Edgar to the power of fighting collectively to make changes that improve the lives of working families and our communities.
